Digital photography is often an integral element in Prodigal Media's print
and television projects. Prodigal’s photography staff has years of experience in both
the taking of photographs and the computerized enhancement and manipulation of them.
As Prodigal Media's senior photographer John Partridge says, “My graphic-design background aids
me tremendously in producing a perfect image to incorporate into a stimulating concept.”
Exemplary of this is the rock image for Farmer’s National Bank found in a thumbnail at right.
Used as the cover image for Farmer’s 2002 Annual Report with the tagline "Rock Solid Since 1887,"
the image is designed to convey massiveness and solidarity.
As Partridge states, “We
shot the image from below and digitally enhanced the shadows behind the word 'Farmers' to add
dimensionality to it, to give it more of a Mt. Rushmore effect. In real life, the piece is
little more than one-foot high.” The cloud-filled background enhances the scale, all the
more impressive for the whole thing being a computer and studio creation.
Prodigal is also expert in creating staged photography outside their own studios.
For Sheely’s Furniture 2004 calendar, Partridge worked with Sheely’s Vice President Sherry Sheely
and Butler Art Institute staff to produce a series of photographs of furniture shot in the Butler’s
impressive permanent collection galleries. Keeping furniture and lighting away from millions of
dollars worth of original American art were just some of the obstacles Partridge had to overcome
to create this masterful suite of images. The calendar has been an enormous success.
